| Outside Edge Fishing Charters offers trips out of Mooloolaba on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. We have two purpose built vessels to accommodate your game fishing needs. Our 34ft Blackwatch game boat, Outside Edge, and 2400 series Kevlacat, Inside Edge, can have you hooked up to the fish of a lifetime right on Brisbane’s doorstep. Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Striped Marlin, Sailfish, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Tuna and Cobia frequent the waters off Mooloolaba. South East Queensland offers some of the best marlin fishing action in the world. It is one the few places where marlin and other game fish may be targeted throughout the year. The Sunshine Coast Game Fishing Club has taken out the GFAA John O’Brien Trophy (highest point scoring tag and release club in Australia) in seasons 97/98, 98/99, 99/00, 00/01, 01/02, 03/04 and 06/07. During these years there were more billfish tagged and released off the Sunshine Coast than in any other port in Australia. Target species include: blue marlin, black marlin, striped marlin, sailfish, wahoo, tuna (yellowfin, northern bluefin, striped, kawa kawa), mahi mahi (aka dolphin fish) and cobia. Fishing methods vary according to the time of the year we are fishing. These include: trolling lures, dead baits and live baits, switch-baiting and saltwater fly. We use the finest fishing tackle including Shimano, Penn, Accurate and Precision custom rods. Peak Billfish Seasons: Our light tackle marlin and sailfish fishing may be undertaken during any month of the year, however, it is does peak over the warmer months (September-April). Our heavy tackle blue and striped marlin season may be undertaken during any month of the year, however, it does peak during the months February-May. Outside Edge trips We offer full day charters aboard Outside Edge (34ft Blackwatch game boat). Sorry, there are no half days. Extended trips in the Cape Moreton area are available on request. Outside Edge is a superb light and heavy tackle game fishing machine and can charge fish down very quickly. It is extremely manoeuvrable which makes it an ideal platform to target fish on light line classes. Stand-up and chair fishing options area available on this vessel. All food and soft drinks/bottled water are supplied on these trips. All you need to bring is a hat, sunscreen and camera. We cater for both beginners and experienced anglers and recommend a maximum of 5 angers to maximise your gamefishing experience. We advise that you consult your pharmacist, prior to your trip, if you are adversely affected (or believe you may be affected) by motion sickness. Inside Edge trips We offer full day charters aboard Inside Edge (2400 Kevlacat light tackle fishing boat). Sorry, there are no half days. Inside Edge is a fast, sport fishing machine and will get you to the grounds in the quickest time possible. This vessel offers an affordable alternative for chasing these magnificent marlin and sailfish. Stand-up light, medium and heavy tackle fishing is available. We cater for beginners and experienced anglers and recommend no more than 3 anglers to maximise your game fishing experience. Soft drinks/bottled water are supplied on these trips. You will need to bring a packed lunch and some snacks for the day, along with your hat, sunscreen and a camera if you like. Mooloolaba is located on the Sunshine Coast in south east Queensland (Australia). It is approximately 100km from Brisbane and is only a bit over and hours flight from Sydney and a little over 2 hours flight from Melbourne. There is an airport located at Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast. Daily flights from major Australian capital cities fly in and out of Maroochydore. Brisbane airport is approximately an hours drive from Mooloolaba. Mooloolaba is a popular holiday destination which lies right on the doorstep of some of the nicest surf beaches in the world. Accommodation is readily available and ranges from caravan parks and backpackers hostels to the finest 5 star hotels and ocean frontage apartments. There are plenty of restaurants to wine and dine at on the Sunshine Coast as well as specialty and department stores. Water sports such as fishing, surfing and swimming are certainly the most popular activities on the coast. The water is blue and warm, the sand is white and fine and the weather is for the most part, nothing short of magnificent. |
