Powered by twin 610hp Volvo 122EDC engines Mistress has a top speed in excess of 30knots and a cruise speed of 25knots. Mistress is fitted with every conceivable facility to help find and catch fish; Alloy Tuna Tower, 2x Depth Sounders, 2x GPS Chartplotters 360o Sonar, 80 mile Bird Sensitive Radar, Computer, Tuna Tubes, Live Bait Tank, Schaefer Outriggers, Murray Brothers Chair and a full range of custom rods with Penn International Reels. The Accommodation consists of a spacious saloon and fully equipped galley; An Island Double with Ensuite, A Second Double with Ensuite, Two Single Bunks, and Two Settee Berths. Interior finishes feature American Cherry, Italian Leather and Designer Carpets and Blinds. The interior is served by two Air-conditioning systems plus the usual Stereo, TV, Video and Icemaker. Allan Geale (Tiger) - Cairns Skipper Tiger is a Cairns resident with 20 years experience on Gameboats fishing for Giant Black Marlin along The Great Barrier Reef. Initially Tiger worked as a Deckhand (Mate) with many well known and highly regarded Skippers including Peter Kirkby and for 8 years with Brian Felton on "Kanahoee". Subsequent to obtaining his Masters qualifications Tiger has Skippered a number of Cairns Boats for varying periods. These include "Calypso", "Sea Venture", "Moonshine" and "Billfish" Tiger has earned his reputation as being amongst the top Cairns based Skippers as a consequence of consistent fishing performance and Tournament success. He has been involved in numerous captures or Tag/Releases of Black Marlin over the magic 1000lb mark. Tiger is also an excellent spear fisherman who can always ensure that on board fish meals are comprised of the finest species available on the Great Barrier Reef Tiger holds qualifications as Master Class 5 and a Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 Brett Alty (Snooks) - Goldcoast Skipper (Also drives or Decks in Cairns) Brett is a lifelong game fisherman. He caught his first Billfish in 1984 at the age of 12 and has held National Records in Australia and Papua New Guinea. He was the first angler in Australia to tag 4 Blue Marlin in day, at the age of 15. In 1989 Brett commenced professional fishing on the Gold Coast and Cairns working as a Deckhand for Skippers such as Phil Roebuck, Peter Kirkby, Ray Johnson, and Peter Radtke. He became a qualified Skipper in 1995, and drove the 36' custom "Gold Strike" for the next 3 years. Brett spent 1999 in the Maldives as Captain of the 45' Hatteras "Mad Hatter" and returned to Australia to oversee construction of "Mistress", take her on sea trials in New Zealand, and then sail her across the Tasman sea to Australia. During off seasons Brett has experience commercially fishing for Mackeral, and longlining for Broadbill and Tuna as Engineer/ Relief Skipper on the 138' "Santa Rocca" Brett is qualified as a Master Class 5 Fishing and Trading, and as a Marine Engine Driver Grade 2. He has extensions allowing him to drive a commercial boat up to 200 miles offshore. GOLD COAST: (December thru August). Surfers Paradise the center of the Gold Coast is Australia’s tourist Mecca of sun sand surf five star hotels and apartments plus the theme parks Movie World, Dreamworld, and Seaword. It is also home to very productive gamefishing grounds with Blue Marlin present on a year round basis. Also present predominantly in the winter months (May-August) are Striped and Black Marlin. During summer (December to March) juvenile Black Marlin are often present in large numbers just off the beach. These fish offer spectacular light tackle fishing (8kg standup) whereas offshore fishing for Blues is definitely medium/heavy (24/37kg) game chair action. Most fishing from the Gold Coast involves day trips however multi day live aboard charters can take in the Cape Moreton grounds to the north. Passengers: Day Maximum 10 Overnight Maximum 4 CAIRNS: (September thru November). The Great Barrier Reef section from Cairns North to Lizard Island is recognised as the Black Marlin capital of the world. Black Marlin migrate to this area to spawn with the first fish appearing in September and the “season” ending in December. Cairns is where the “granders” (1000lb and bigger) lurk so most anglers prefer 60kg heavy tackle. Mistress is available for day trips or multi day live aboard charters. The obvious advantage of live aboard charters, fully catered; is the opportunity to overnight inside the spectacular Great Barrier Reef; enjoy bottom fishing for dinner, snorkeling or swimming and spend more time chasing the big ones. However some charterers prefer day tripping, even over several days so that they can get their feet on dry land at night! Or enjoy Cairns nightlife. Passengers: Day Maximum 9 Overnight Maximum 4 |
